Singer Lizzo crashed a Peloton class in New York to celebrate the launch of her new album ‘Special’, and the class, now available on demand, crashed the platform as users flocked to it.

We’ve been loving music-inspired workouts of late, who can forget the iconic Ariana Grande ‘strut’ treadmill workout that’s perfect for beginners?

However, now Lizzo has thrown her hat into the ring, surprising a group of Peloton riders in the New York studios who had no idea she’d be in attendance.

Lizzo didn’t come empty handed either, bringing her ‘Big Grrrls’ dancers to do a performance for the group. Lizzo even sang a song live during the ride, which is now available on demand in Peloton’s class library.

Apparently, the class was so lit that 15,000 global members flocked to join it, crashing the platform due to the demand.

Trainers Robin Arzón and Jess Sims looked over-the-moon to have the ‘Juice’ singer join them in the studio. “I think a queen just entered the building,” Arzón exclaimed when Lizzo walked in.

Lizzo was quick to jump on a bike asking politely, “Am I late for the Lizzo class?”

She proceeded to sing ‘About Damn Time’, in perfect pitch while Peloton-ing and as usual, absolutely slaying the day.

“This queen is doing peloton and singing at the same damn time,” one user commented proudly.

“Singing and biking? I would’ve passed out within *seconds*. #stamina,” another added.

We are starting to see a lot of fitness brands, especially ones that offer at-home workouts embrace popular music and so-called ‘artist series’, as Peloton has called theirs. Peloton has the likes of ABBA, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Coldplay and Megan Thee Stallion all wrapped up in artist playlists so you can get down to your favourite singer throughout the workout.

There is obviously a market for it, with Lizzo’s presence being the reason for an app-wide outage on Peloton. Talk about hot girls in demand!

And, there’s science behind it too.

Researchers at Brunel University London’s School of Sport and Education found that music increases exercise endurance as much as 15 per cent.

It’s all about getting that beat right too. In the study participants were asked to keep to the beat of a range of specially selected tracks – from Madonna to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Not only was their endurance enhanced, but they also reported better ‘feeling states’, helping them get more ‘pleasure’ from the workout.

So swing your hips to the beat or ride virtually with Lizzo if you want to – it’s a great way to get your exercise in without getting bored, and may even help your performance.
